Open Access Statement

MERIT is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are freely available online immediately upon publication without subscription fees, registration requirements, or embargo periods. Readers may access, read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full text of published articles in accordance with the terms of the applicable license.

MERIT supports the principles of open access as outlined by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which allows others to share, copy, redistribute, and adapt the work with proper attribution.

Publication Frequency

MERIT follows a monthly publication schedule, ensuring the timely dissemination of high-quality scholarly research across multidisciplinary fields. One regular issue is published each month, resulting in twelve (12) issues annually.

To facilitate the rapid communication of research findings, all accepted manuscripts are published online as Online First immediately after completing the peer-review, editorial, and production processes. Articles receive their final citation details when assigned to a monthly issue, significantly reducing the time between acceptance and publication.

In addition to its regular monthly issues, MERIT publishes Special Issues dedicated to emerging research themes, interdisciplinary topics, and frontier areas of scientific inquiry. The journal also welcomes and publishes Conference Proceedings, Seminar Proceedings, Workshop Proceedings, Symposium Proceedings, and Edited Collections in collaboration with academic institutions, professional societies, research organizations, and conference organizers.

Special Issues and Proceedings are subjected to the journal's editorial standards and rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of all published content.

Peer Review Model

The journal follows a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Under this model, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process, ensuring an impartial, objective, and unbiased evaluation based solely on scholarly merit, originality, methodology, significance, and scientific contribution.

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment. Manuscripts that pass preliminary screening are assigned to at least two independent subject experts. The journal strives to complete the initial peer-review process within 2–4 weeks of submission. Editorial decisions include Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.

DOI Registration & Metadata Services

Every published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref, providing a persistent, globally recognized identifier for scholarly content. A DOI enables reliable citation, seamless linking, long-term accessibility, and efficient integration with academic databases, reference management software, and digital library systems.

In addition to DOI registration, the journal deposits comprehensive article metadata with Crossref, including bibliographic information, author details, abstracts, references, funding information (where applicable), ORCID iDs, licensing information, and other scholarly metadata to maximize visibility and interoperability.

While the journal actively pursues inclusion in reputable abstracting and indexing services, acceptance and continued coverage are determined solely by the respective indexing agencies. Consequently, inclusion in any specific database cannot be guaranteed by the journal.
