Abstract
Microplastic pollution in marine environments has reached alarming levels globally. This meta-analysis synthesizes data from 127 peer-reviewed studies spanning 2018-2025 to quantify the impact on marine biodiversity. Our findings reveal a statistically significant correlation between microplastic concentration and species diversity decline, with benthic organisms showing the highest vulnerability. We provide recommendations for policy interventions based on regional risk assessments.
